What do I need for a website?

Simply five things:

1)   DOMAIN NAME: This is your URL (Universal Resource Locator) address or home page on the Internet, i.e. www. yourname.com.

2)   REGISTRANT: This is where you register your domain name. A domain name (URL) is registered through a registrar in yearly increments up to 10-years at a time. There are extensions to a domain name such as .com, .net, .org, .us, etc.

3)   HOST: A host server is needed to upload your website onto the Internet. This is where your website is stored and allows your website to be viewed.

4)   DESIGNER: Someone to build your website - It is important to choose a designer that knows how to not only build an attractive website, but that knows how to imbed all the codes and scripts that will allow search engines to find the website easily. While some websites are very attractive, they are virtually "parked" without the correct hidden tags and scripts.  

5)   FTP: (File Transfer Protocol) After the website is built it must be loaded onto the Internet via FTP.

You can then provide your information and digital images via emails, or send a CD via U.S. mail and/or FedEx.
