The First Unity Baptist Church began in 1761, with its first gathering. We continue in a long tradition of  progressive involvement in issues  which uphold the rights, dignity, and equality of all people under God. If you are looking for a church home, we welcome your visit! 

Following the One who we believe is Sovereign and Savior, we affirm that each individual is a child of God, and recognize that we are called to be like one body with many members, seeking with others of every race, ethnicity, creed, class, age, gender, marital status, physical or mental ability, and sexual identity to journey  together toward the promised realm of God.

Reverend John B. Martindale and his family invite you to join in the fellowship of First Unity Baptist Church. He has served the Lord since a young age and has been the pastor of First Unity Baptist for the past twelve years. He and his wife, Celia, have been married for over ten years. They have one daughter, Joy. Reverend John and his wife are active in the community with ministry, as well as donating their time to charity, education and community development.

Reverend John is a 1990 graduate of North Texas Christian Academy and a 1994 graduate North Texas Bible College. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas Christian Men's Bible Association. He attributes his unfounded love for the Lord to the his parents, Dr. and Mrs. John K. Martindale and their Christian home filled with Love, Kindness, Prayer and Bible Study.

What the Bible says on how to become a child of God:

WHO HAS SINNED? "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

WHERE DID SIN COME FROM?  "Wherefore, as by one man  sin entered into the world,
and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned."  (Romans 5:12)

WHAT IS THE PENALTY FOR SIN?  "For the wages of sin is death;
but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  (Romans 6:23)

IS THERE A WAY OUT?  "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."  (Romans 5:8)
